When Beaumont Communicatie suddenly experienced a lack of capacity, Linda Troost, Managing Partner and Senior Advisor, was faced with a challenge: she urgently needed extra support. “I had just spoken to Babbage about their traineeship in collaboration with Loo van Eck and thought: this could be the perfect solution,” says Linda. She contacted Babbage and soon communication trainees Famke and Fabienne joined her team.
For Linda, Babbage trainees were a logical choice. “We have been working together for a while. So I knew that Babbage had a good selection procedure and that the foundation would be in order.” The use of trainees turned out to be an excellent way to solve the capacity problem. “Famke and Fabienne were immediately available and took on their tasks with a lot of energy and self-confidence. That was not only nice for me, but also for the team. Extra work did not rest on the shoulders of other colleagues for too long.”
Since they started at Beaumont Communicatie, Famke and Fabienne have developed strongly. “In the beginning, everything was new to them: the company, the field of work, the people, the systems. But they immediately came in full of energy and have grown enormously in a short time,” says Linda. Thanks to the training courses from Loo van Eck, getting started on projects right away and the guidance on the work floor, they felt increasingly confident in their role. “We hold regular evaluations, first weekly and now every few weeks. This also helps them to continue to develop. In addition to working closely with more experienced colleagues, they are given plenty of opportunities to try things out themselves, receive feedback and further strengthen their skills.”
According to Linda, the presence of young professionals has a positive influence on the dynamics within the team. “They bring fresh energy and think a little differently. It is a nice addition to our team, where we have people of different ages and backgrounds.”
Linda also found the collaboration with Babbage a big plus. “Your colleague Gwen (Recruitment Consultant and Babbage supervisor of the trainees) came by after a while for an evaluation, which I really appreciated. Even though we already know each other well, it is very valuable to take the time for that. In addition, I know that I can always quickly switch with Babbage if necessary.”
Some organizations hesitate to hire trainees because of the guidance that comes with it. Linda understands that hesitation, but when asked whether she would recommend the trainees to other organizations, Linda answers with a resounding yes. “What I see now is that Babbage selects very well. These are juniors who can really handle something. They are super flexible and smart, and I am impressed by how much they can already do. They have just left school, but they are not at all afraid to take things on. That fresh energy is incredibly inspiring.”
